Freelance Photographer

Sophie Starzenski nace en Buenos Aires en 1985. En el 2004 comienza a estudiar fotografía analógica con Aldo Bressi. Trabaja en este formato durante dos años, revelando y copiando largas horas en el laboratorio. Pronto, la fotografía deja de ser un pasatiempo para convertirse en una vocación, decide perfeccionar su técnica para trabajar en formato digital. Desde el año 2006, se despeña como fotógrafa freelance, ha colaborado con medios locales e internacionales, realiza trabajos por encargo con gran versatilidad. Su mayor placer es la fotografía documental; su proyecto “40 semanas y un espejo”, que registra los cambios de su propio cuerpo durante el embarazo, se viralizó en redes y fue publicado en varios países alrededor del globo. Hoy disfruta principalmente nuestra relación con la madre tierra, la maternidad y el cuerpo.  

Hija de un piloto y una azafata, es una viajera infatigable, disfruta enormemente escribiendo notas que acompañan sus fotografías de viajes, siempre marcadas por un constante deseo de exploración y un gran amor por la comida. Prefiere trabajar con luz natural y situaciones espontáneas, haciendo foco en lo real tal y como es en ese preciso momento. Actualmente reside en Buenos Aires, Argentina.

Sophie Starzenski is born in Buenos Aires in 1985. In 2004, she studies photography with the renowned photographer Aldo Bressi. For two years she works with analogue film, spending countless hours in the lab. Soon, photography evolves from a hobby into a vocation and she decides to master her technique in digital format. Since 2006, she works as a freelance photographer, collaborating with local and international media and doing a great variety of commissioned work. Her greatest pleasure is documentary photography; her photo essay “40 weeks and a mirror”, where she documents the changes that her own body experiences during pregnancy, goes viral and gets printed in several countries all around the world. Today she researches issues related to our connection with mother nature, maternity and the human body.

Daughter of a pilot and an airhostess, she is a tireless traveller. She enjoys very much writing articles that go with her travel photography, always marked both by a constant wish to explore and a great love for food. She prefers to work with natural light and authentic situations, focusing on reality as it is at that exact moment. Currently based in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
